NHTSA issues Cruise crash-reporting consent order

NHTSA announced a consent order addressing incomplete Cruise reports about crashes involving automated driving systems.

The 30 September 2024 order includes a $1.5 million civil penalty, a corrective action plan, additional operational and safety reporting, and quarterly meetings with NHTSA. The action followed incomplete reporting that omitted post-crash details of the 2 October 2023 pedestrian crash.
