Ethiopia Artificial Intelligence Institute Establishment Regulation

Council of Ministers Regulation No. 510/2022 established Ethiopia’s Artificial Intelligence Institute as an autonomous federal institution and entered into force on 23 April 2022.

The regulation assigns national-policy coordination, AI research and development, regulatory-system development, private-developer licensing, and evaluation and certification of AI products and services. It does not establish exclusive authority over every sector-specific use of AI.
